About Michael

Michael founded Giving Tree Capital, LLC in 2017 to build financial freedom for his family, to give back to communities, and to serve his core belief - that companies of the future will be rewarded by consumers for "doing good".  This includes products from sustainable sources, disruptive technologies that change the way people think, act, and do, environmentally friendly manufacturing practices, and more.  This belief has driven successful investment decisions while Michael's obsession with data and analytics has led to a risk management philosophy that protects the portfolio.

Michael began building this strategy in 2010 by investing his personal wealth into stocks, bonds, and derivatives on his own.  By evolving this strategy for over a decade, his average annual returns have grown while volatility has decreased - the never ending mission which is a core success metric.  In 2017, Michael opened Giving Tree to begin sharing this success with family and friends.  He truly has "skin in the game" since the entirety of his life savings and college savings for his children is invested in Giving Tree.

Michael graduated B.S in Chemical Engineering from Drexel University in 2008 and earned an MBA from Penn State University in 2011.  He also holds an Executive Scholars certificate from the Kellogg School of Business at Northwestern University.  As a commercial leader, he has sold over $100m annually around the globe.  As a project manager, he has lead close to $500m in capital projects, including building a greenfield bio-ethoxolate manufacturing plant enabling an entirely new portfolio of ethoxolated products from renewable raw materials and over $1B in annual sales.  Michael has led large, complex organizations with diverse backgrounds, which included representatives from up to 10 different trade unions.

Michael lives in New York with his wife and four children.  "My greatest motivation in life is being able to build an incredible environment for my kids to grow, learn, and thrive.  I want them to be proud of their dad in what he has been able to accomplish."
